Exploratory Day Tour
Our Day “Exploratory” tours are a ideal for
those who are visiting the
Bar Harbor
/
Mount Desert Island
area and want to spend the greater portion of a
day sea kayaking.
Day Tour: We will begin the tour with a hands on
safety/kayak lesson. Once we are all
comfortable and ready we will launch from our
kayak docks onto the waters surrounding
Mount Desert Island.
We will start our 6-9 mile roundtrip paddle by
heading into the Porcupine
Islands.
These islands are a wonderful spot for viewing
an abundant variety of wildlife. While on the
water your knowledgeable and friendly Maine
registered kayak guide / naturalist will educate
you about the surrounding region and wildlife
while helping you further improve your kayaking
skills and making sure you have a great time.
Approximately half-way through our paddle we
will land on a beach for a snack break and some
mild exploration. After our refreshing
break we will head back out onto the water and
begin our trip back. Be sure to take in
the panoramic views of Mount Desert Island with
Cadillac Mountain (1530 feet) towering above it
all.
What to see: Bald Eagles, Seals, Porpoises, Great Blue
Herons, Osprey, Sea Stars, forests of Firs and
Spruce.
What to bring: Layered clothing
(T-shirt, sweatshirt, windbreaker or an outer
shell), long pants or shorts, sunglasses, sun
block, hat, lip balm, comfortable foot wear,
water, a sack lunch, a camera (may possibly get
wet) and a great attitude.
No experience necessary.
Tour Times: 10:30a.m. &
12:30p.m. (custom times available).
